Put your right boot in /
shake it all about — that’s how /
you dance with the marsh

(Notes: Usually when I see this patch of ice in the marsh, I poke it with a stick, my jo staff. I just like doing it. But today I had a special staff (bokutoh) that I didn’t want to mess with. So I decided to get my boot into the action. And when I first stepped in, I noticed out of the corner of my eye — some of the air bubbles moved. I tried again — more bubbles moved. Then got into a rhythm with it. Pure delight! We can play with nature — not just admire it, but out and out play with it.)
